Coming To Faith: Transitioning From The Old Covenant

Faith is often perceived as a tradition passed down through families or communities, woven into the fabric of everyday life. However, the New Testament reveals that faith is not merely inherited but requires a personal encounter and transformation through Christ Jesus. Transitioning from the old covenant of collective or superficial faith to a deep, individual relationship with God (YHWH) is a journey of renewal and growth.

The New Testament introduces a radical shift in understanding faith. Christ Jesusโ€™ teachings emphasize a personal connection with God (YHWH), distinct from the rituals and legalism often associated with Old Testament practices. In John 3:3, Christ Jesus declares, โ€œUnless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (YHWH).โ€ This statement underscores the necessity of a spiritual rebirthโ€”a departure from reliance on tradition and the embrace of a transformative faith in Christ Jesus.

For many, transitioning from the old covenantโ€”whether rooted in family customs, community expectations, or cultural normsโ€”can feel unsettling. It challenges long-held beliefs and practices. Yet, this transition is essential to experience the fullness of Godโ€™s (YHWH) grace. Romans 12:2 encourages believers: โ€œDo not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (YHWH).โ€

Embracing this change involves humility and surrender. As believers, we must approach God (YHWH) with open hearts, letting go of preconceived notions and allowing His Spirit to guide us. Faith is not about fulfilling external expectations but about cultivating a genuine relationship with the Creator.

Through Christ Jesus, we can transition from the old covenant of inherited faith to the new, living faith that transforms and renews our hearts, aligning us with Godโ€™s (YHWH) will.
