Spiritual gifts are meant to be active in every believer’s life, but for many, they seem to fade over time. The good news is that God (YHWH) has provided a way to reactivate them. Whether it’s the gift of prophecy, healing, or teaching, these gifts were given to us to build the Kingdom of God (YHWH) and serve others, not to remain dormant.
One reason spiritual gifts fade is neglect. Like any gift, if we do not use them, they lose their vibrancy. In 1 Timothy 4:14, Paul encourages us not to neglect the gift within us. Reactivating our gifts requires us to take intentional steps to use them, trusting that the Holy Spirit will empower us when we step out in faith.
Another reason is misuse. When we use our gifts for selfish reasons or outside of God’s (YHWH) will, their power diminishes. As 1 Corinthians 13 reminds us, without love, even the most powerful gifts are nothing. To reactivate the gifts, we must return to using them for God’s (YHWH) glory and in service to others.
Spiritual apathy can also cause our gifts to fade. When we become complacent in our faith, we can miss the opportunity to exercise the gifts God (YHWH) has given us. Revelation 3:16 warns against lukewarm faith. Reactivating our gifts starts with a renewed passion for Christ Jesus and a commitment to seek Him first.
The Holy Spirit is always ready to refill us. In Luke 11:13, Christ Jesus promises that if we ask, God (YHWH) will give the Holy Spirit. Reactivating our gifts begins by asking for a fresh outpouring of the Spirit, which reignites the gifts God (YHWH) has placed within us.
We must also step out in faith to see our gifts come alive. 1 Corinthians 12:7 tells us that gifts are given for the common good. As we use them to serve others, the Holy Spirit works through us, strengthening and manifesting these gifts for God’s (YHWH) glory.
Through Christ Jesus, we can be reassured that whenever we aim to use our spiritual gifts they will not fade, but will remain stronger and stronger for the service of God (YHWH).
