“AYOWALE!!!! WHO IS THIS GIRL!?!?! DON’T YOU REALISE YOU ARE ONLY 13 YEARS OLD!?!?!” That is how this story will unfortunately start.
“Ayowale” Ogunmefun was a 13 year old Nigerian-British Boys Grammar School Student who had just been caught in his room with a girl by his Sieria Leone Mother.
He was at the age where he had begun to start getting interested in the opposite sex, and at a Boys Grammar School; this was even harder.
Now let me get one thing straight. Ayowale was just friends with this girl, and nothing inappropriate was going on with this girl; they were just comparing lives at school. She attended an All-Girl Comprehensive School and had met Ayowale through her group of friends.
This however did not sit well with Ayowale’s Mother. I will not divulge the name of the girl; however Ayowale was later banned from having the girl over to the house; and from seeing her again; a broken friendship (at only 13 years old).
Ayowale had trouble understanding what intentions his mother had for him, and why he was not allowed to see the girl again; and began questioning her motives, inside of the home and in the community.
Community can never replace what a person truly calls their home, no matter how hard a family member of friend may try; as it says in Proverbs 24:3-4 – “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
