In Old Testament times; under the Old Convenant believers were required to be circumcised. These believers were then known as Jews; having the godly Circumcision and being under the law.
The Old Covenant separated Jew from Gentile; with the Gentiles being known as ‘dogs’, and the Jews being known as God’s (YHWH) Holy People.
Since the resurrection of Christ Jesus; Christ Jesus now fulfils the law, and all that believe are now no longer obliged to obey the Old Convenant; and instead follow the Law of Christ.
